Woe is Me

The valentine's dinner that i was planning was canceled today. Apparently not enough people signed up. It wasn't even postponed, just canceled. Last year we had something like 60 couples sign up, this year only 19. It wasn't a matter of last year not being any good, so i don't know.

It's really depressing because Leighton and I had so many really cool ideas. Instead of having table numbers we were going to have table names: eg. The Romeo and Juliette table, The Antony and Cleopatra table. All after couples in Shakespeare plays.

We had beautiful colorful overlays for the tables and were going to hire out these awesome candle stands for decoration.

Not only all that but you should have seen the menus Leighton designed.

We were also going to make a scroll per couple that had a sonnet written inside, and we were going to stain the paper with tea to make it look old and then seal it with a wax stamp.

So all of the planning is now in vain.

To make matters even more depressing is that Michael won't even be here for valentines day. I'll see him this weekend though. We'll celebrate it then.

For all of those couples out there, Happy Valentine's Day for tomorrow.

Death To Bugs

I just had a vicious battle with a pray-mantus . I don't even know if that's spelled right . I don't actually care because they don't deserve the respect of having their names spelled right. Vile creatures. It was nose diving my face for a good fifteen minutes. I yelled at it to stop and it wouldn't listen . The breaking point for me was when my brother brought me a cup of hot tea and the retched abomination decided to take another dive at me making me jump and spilling my tea on the keyboard, the mouse, and my ipod ! That was it. The loathsome insect flew into an empty cup so i took it to the sink and filled the cup with water. I feel much better now . Yes, I know, I have issues.

On a happier note , Saturday was Michael and my three year anniversary. (I wish it was a wedding anniversary...) We went and watched Gridiron Gang, then went out to this really nice restaurant called The Deck for dinner. Afterward we rented Failure To Launch and watched it at my place. It was really nice .

Valentines Day is just round the corner and I'm in charge of the Valentines Dinner our youth does at church. I'm really excited about it . It's next weekend. The theme is Shakespeare. It's going to be really cool.

Well that's about all I have to update on..... See I'm getting better at this whole updating thing .

Laterz!

I'm Back

I know, it has been forever since I have updated! We were having problems getting our internet up and running. And using someone else's computer to update just couldn't work. I needed the time to be able to just sit down and write and put pictures on.

I ask that you have patience, this is a long over-due update.

So, here we go...

Leighton's party that I mentioned in my last blog was really fun. We had a great time decorating and dressing up.

Myself, Leighton, and Wendy

Not long after Lei's birthday we had our junior youth's Holiday Club (Vacation Bible School). The theme was outer-space. It was so much fun! The only prop was that I got sick on the last day!

Glenn and Antjie 713

This is a pic our our stage. The spacey background was painted by a bunch of the high school youth (Rattpack) In this picture from left to right is Wendy, myself, Pierre, and Micah. We were doing a skit called "Beam Me Up". Everyday we had a part of the "Beam Me Up" skit. Our characters we're alien scientists wanting to know more about this Jesus person we kept hearing about. So each day we would "beam" someone from Earth and question them about Jesus. In this play we "beamed up" Pierre, whose character was Lazarus.

This is a pic of the scientists from planet Snorg. From the left is Galaxy (Wendy), Sparky (Micah), and Nova (myself).

Each day I tried to do something freaky with my hair, because us as leaders were supposed to be from space! Pretty cool, huh? Leighton did it for me.

Here is a pic of me and my class. I had the third and fourth graders.

A few moths later we threw a surprise birthday party for Wendy. It just so happened to be on John-Mark's birthday so we made it a combined party. But it was only Wendy who didn't know about it.

DSCF1483

It looked as if a balloon and streamer monster threw up all over our living room! From the girl whose back of her head you can see, clockwise: Kimberly, Shannon, Pierre, Micah, Jordan, Lebo, John-Mark, and Freedom.

Jordan, Lebo, Freedom, and Wendy. It was Wendy's 16th and John-Mark's 17th.

Now, over here my mom is famous for her homemade ginger beer. She got it out of a children's cook book and adapted it to her own perfection. A particular bottle had been sitting in our fridge for about two months and had matured....

DSCF1504

This is Pierre. He had eight glasses of my mother's matured ginger beer, on an empty stomach! Well, needless to say he was a little happier than most at the party. We now call him "Ginger-Pierre".

Here are some fun pictures of some chalk graffiti we did on the road one lazy sunday in front of Kimberly's house.

Jannine's 16th birthday was theme'd that you had to come dressed as something beginning with an "S". I went as a schizophrenic (someone with multiple personalities).

There was a six-pack competition at camp. The MC's called up five volunteers. They had four, and our youth was SCREEMING that Michael (my man) should go up. He didn't want to at all. We were sitting pretty close to the stage and the MC's heard us so one of them came to our row and asked Michael to go up. He said no way! So i told the MC that his name was Michael. The MC started chanting "Michael, Michael" into the mic and eventually the whole camp (1500 people) started as well. So needless to say the pressure got to Michael and he went up. And guess what..... HE WON!!!!!

On the way back from camp all the boys strangely need to go at the same time. Left to right. Michael, Brian, Jaques, Roelof, Micah, Nathan (who obviously needed some help from Wesley), Wes, Carel, and Dean.

That was our Summer Camp. It was definitely one of the best ever!

....Ok, everything else has been good for the most part. Not much to report on. My cousin Bryn sadly died on the 14th of January from a heart attack. He was 23 years old. So if you all could keep our family in your prayers I would appreciate it.

I'm still trying to get into wedding planning and at the same time am still working for Michael's dad as a secretary.

Michael has sent his reseme to a big company called Anglo Platinum Mines. We're waiting to hear from them. He will probably have to study for another two years while working.

My brother is in Port Elizabeth visiting our old youth pastor. And my parents are in the States and will only be back on the 17th of March.

Oh yeah, I'm writing a book. I can't say what its about because I don't want anyone to steal my idea, but I think it's going to be good.

That's about it for now. I hope I haven't overloaded my readers.

Luv ya'z

Hey all!

I know I haven't updated in forever, its because I haven't been near a computer with internet since my last update. Now I'm taking advatage of my poor friend Leighton when I'm supposed to be helping her make invites for HER party.

She's turning eighteen. She's having a 60's theme. Don't ask me what I'm going to wear yet. I still have a week.

I'm going to go visit Michael tomorrow for the weekend with his parents. I'm so happy. I really miss him.

Hannah is here, which is great! Well actually she is in Mozambique at the moment. But we got to spend a week together . It was really fun catching up at night while we lay in our beds. Mind you i had many days at work where I was exhausted!

Anyways, my party was amazing. Have a look:

This is basically everyone who was there.

My Prince Charming and his Fairy Princess.

The mischievous Wendy-Pixie.

Tinkerbell and Peter-Pan (Leighton and Wesley) and no, their not a couple, couple of idiots maybe. JUST KIDDING!

Those wings took forever to make!

Two Princesses. (Ruby and Lucinda)

Danelle and Leandi.

Kea the Fairy Bandit and My future mother-in-law, Ann. Don't ask.
